Maritime Festival to be 2010 APBA National Tour Stop
The American Power Boat Association (APBA) is excited to announce that Harbor Beach, Michigan will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary as host of a PWC racing event and once again Harbor Beach will play host to an APBA National Tour event. The 2010 event will take place on July 9, 10, and 11 in the Harbor next to Trescott Street Pier on Lake Huron. What started out as a regional Midwest Watercross Tour event 9 years ago, has grown to be a huge four-day festival and event with all kinds of exciting and fun events. The Harbor Beach event has grown to be such a great event thanks to hard work and dedication of Al Kleinknecht and the Maritime Festival Committee that each year amazes us with a first class event that is second to none.
If there is one race you ever participate in during your racing career, the Harbor Beach, Michigan event is one race you should experience. The whole week of the event includes many great activities making it truly an epic event. It’s fun for the entire family with live bands on the beach, fireworks, camping on beautiful Lake Huron, cottages and bed and breakfasts on the lake, food and vendor tents, raffles, watercraft racing, watercraft recreational events and many other events. With the event being the combination of three of the best watercraft events in the country including the APBA National Tour, Monster Energy Midwest Watercross Tour and the U.S vs. Canada Can-Am Cup events, the 2010 event it promises to be another fantastic event.
This is definitely many racers’ favorite site year after year as the Harbor Beach locals put on an outstanding event and show tremendous hospitality. The event will take place in their Harbor on Lake Huron, and is a perfect site for a watercraft race, and guaranteed to be a lot of fun. The 1,015 foot long pier provides great viewing for the thousands of spectators that come to watch the United States and Canada’s finest watercraft racers. The Maritime Festival in Harbor Beach, Michigan has become one of the largest spectator events of Personal Watercraft Racing in the country.
Over 5,000 spectators will be on hand to watch the hot racing action that weekend making the pier standing room only. All during the day the best racers from across the United States compete in the National Tour events. The crowd will be electrified all weekend long with the top Pros competing on the National Tour as well as Saturday Night during the Budweiser Can-Am Cup as thousands of spectators wildly cheer for their favorite team. The weekend festivities gets under way as a growing and popular recreational event will be taking place on Friday. The 7th Annual H & R Block Invitational will be in full swing as local personal watercraft enthusiasts will compete in Team Competition on the same race course run by the racers. This event has grown from 4 Teams total in 2002 to 35 Teams and 140 riders in 2009. Other great events before the racing even begins on Friday includes the annual racers cookout and the U.S. vs. Canada Hockey game under the lights. Both these events have become awesome events and a very big part of the Harbor Beach race.
