Costa Mesa, Calif. (March 10, 2005) – The
International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) announced today
the details for U.S. riders to qualify for the 2005 World Finals.
Pros, Masters and Junior class closed-course riders will
be eligible to compete at the 2005 World Finals after participating and
being scored in at least one IJSBA or IJSBA-Affiliate sanctioned race
event. All other riders will be eligible
when one of the following criteria has been met:
- Participated with any IJSBA or IJSBA-Affiliate promoter and been
scored in at least three races within the class.
- Participated with any IJSBA or IJSBA-Affiliate promoter and scored
at least 96 combined points within the class.
This means that a rider needs to complete either number
1 or number 2. Once that has been accomplished, the rider
may register for World Finals, beginning first part of June at www.ijsba.com. In
order for the IJSBA to confirm your registration, you will need to:
- Provide the specific information on the entry form stating which
races you received scores, in meeting the above listed criteria.
- Pay the necessary registration fees.
- Provide a current IJSBA-Affiliate member number.
To be considered an alternate, a rider must have competed
and been scored in at least one IJSBA or IJSBA-Affiliate sanctioned race
event. The cutoff date for all qualifying is August 28, 2005.
Amateur Freestyle riders will be qualified from criteria
set by each of the two U.S. Affiliates. Both the APBA and the USWRA will
receive six (6) spots for a total of twelve (12) Amateur Freestyle competitors
from the United States. Please contact your affiliate for more information.
Pro Freestyle rider qualifying requirements will be available
at a later date.
For closed-course races, if a promoter combines classes,
a rider will qualify in the respective World Finals recognized class.
For example, if Amateur Runabout 800 Limited is combined with Amateur
Runabout 800 Open, riders will be qualified in the respective Amateur
Runabout 800 Limited and Amateur Runabout 800 Open classes in which you
registered. If a Runabout 800 class is combined with a Runabout 1200
class, the rider will be qualified in the respective 800 and/or 1200
class.
Slalom will be a stand-alone championship for the 2005
World Finals and therefore will not be combined with any closed-course
classes for an Overall Championship. Slalom competition will be open
to any PWC rider who is a current IJSBA or IJSBA-Affiliate member in
good standing meeting the age requirements, has participated in one event
in 2005 in any class and is riding a watercraft that meets the rules
and guidelines of the 2005 IJSBA Rulebook.
There will be three classes for Slalom - Open Ski, Open
Runabout and Junior Ski. All engine modifications as listed in the 2005
IJSBA Rulebook will be allowed to run excluding Modified. PWC that are
categorized as 800 Runabout or Sport may run in the Open Runabout class.
The Sea-Doo 3-D will run in the Open Runabout class for all three configurations.
